Bahrain, an island in the Persian Gulf between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, was long a protectorate of Great Britain. The first coins issued for the sheikhdom are dated 1965 and the state became fully independent in 1971. The SCWC also lists AH 1412-1991 for this type.
