Jean Elsen sale 155, lot 1408

This specimen was lot 1408 in Jean Elsen sale 155 (Brussels, June 2023), where it sold for €480 (about US$629 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, BRETAGNE, Duché, Jean IV (1345-1399), AR denier, vers 1365-1385, Rennes. D/ + IOHANNES DEI GRA Dans un polylobe, lettre I entre deux mouchetures. R/ + DVX BRITANNIE R Croix pattée. Très rare. Beau à Très Beau. Provient de la collection Bigot, 743 (avec ancienne étiquette) et de la collection de Brehier. (France, duchy of Brittany, John IV, 1345-99, silver denier from around 1365-1385, Rennes mint. Obverse: the letter "I" between two ermines in a polylobe; reverse: cross pattée. Very rare, Fine - Very Fine.)"
