In 1922, the Greek monarchy was overthrown as a consequence of the defeat by the Turks and a republic established which lasted until 1935. During its brief existence, a series of handsome coins was issued including this twenty lepta.

Recorded mintage: 20,000,000.

Specification: 1.73 g, copper-nickel.
