Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach 1764-K FS thaler Dav-2759
This specimen was lot 1305 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,134 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HERZOGTUM, SACHSEN-WEIMAR-EISENACH, AB 1815 GROSSHERZOGTUM Anna Amalia, 1758-1775, Regentin. Konv.-Taler 1764, Eisenach. Kabinettstück. Prachtvolle Patina, min. Stempelfehler, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, duchy of Saze-Weimar-Eisenach, regent Anna Amalia, 1758-75, convention thaler of 1764, Eisenach mint. Outstanding cabinet toning, minimal adjustment marks, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This scarce type was issued in several varieties and is accompanied by an equally rare gold five thalers (Fr-3043). It is the last thaler struck for this locale in the eighteenth century.
