This specimen was lot 74284 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Sovereign, 1893-M. Melbourne Mint. Victoria. PCGS AU-53. Jubilee Head design with St. George and the dragon, reverse. With appealing golden luster." Jubilee head (KM 10) and old head (KM 13) sovereigns were both struck in Melbourne in 1893. Both are common altho a few proofs exist of the old head.
Recorded mintage: 1,649,000 of the Jubilee head plus 1,914,000 of the old head.
Specification: 7.98 g, 0.917 fine gold, 21 mm diameter.
