This specimen was lot 5271 in Sincona sale 80 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,918 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND | Waadt/Vaud | Kanton, 10 Batzen 1804, Lausanne. Very rare. Only 1,234 pieces struck. Very fine. Minor edge clip." Vaud, long a part of Switzerland, was until 1803 a subject territory of Bern and issued no coinage of her own. After the collapse of the Helvetic Republic, Vaud issued coinage 1804-31. This type and the accompanying five batzen are rare while he smaller denominations are common. Forty batzen made a thaler.
