Jean Elsen sale 145, lot 1893

This specimen was lot 1893 in Jean Elsen sale 145 (Brussels, September 2020), where it sold for €130 (about US$185 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Philips IV (1621-1665), AR halve dukaton, 1633, Brugge. Eerste type. Vz/ Bb. r., met brede kraag. Kz/ Gekroond wapenschild gehouden door twee leeuwen. Onderaan het juweel van het Gulden Vlies. Zeer zeldzaam Kleine defekten in de muntplaat. Mooie patina. Fraai à Zeer Fraai. (county of Flanders, Philip IV, 1621-65, silver half ducaton of 1633, Bruges mint, first type. Obverse: bust right wearing ruffed collar; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions, jewel of the Golden Fleece below. Very rare, planchet defect, Fine - Very Fine.)"

This rare type was struck 1632-33, 1636.
