Künker sale 352, lot 2053

This specimen was lot 2053 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €500 (about US$696 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PFALZ, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Ludwig III. 1410-1436. Goldgulden o. J. (1419), Oppenheim. GOLD. Sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Pfalz, Louis III, 1410-36, undated goldgulden, Oppenheim mint. Very fine.)"

Goldgulden were also struck at Bacharach and Heidelberg. The design is similar but the small shields on the reverse are arranged differently.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.49 g, .986 fine gold, this specimen 3.38 g.
