Turkey 2009 lira rev DC.jpg

This specimen was plucked from circulation on a recent trip to Turkey. It bears the stern visage of Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Republic. Many examples passed thru the author's hands yet most were already heavily worn, unusual for a coin only a year old. No other dates beside 2009 were found.

Recorded mintage: unlisted.

Specification: bimetallic, copper-nickel center in brass ring.

Catalog reference: KM 1244.
