This specimen was lot 946 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,281 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KÖLN, ERZBISTUM, Johann Gebhard von Mansfeld, 1558-1562. Taler 1558, Deutz. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön +. (Germany, archbishopric of Cologne, John Gebhard of Mansfeld, 1558-62, thaler of 1558, Deutz mint. Handsome toning, very fine or better.)"
The archbishopric of Cologne, like Mainz and Trier, was an ecclesiastical state along the river Rhine whose ruler was one of the Electors of the Empire. This one year type is scarce.
