This specimen was lot 46107 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 4 Mark, 1711-LC. Karl XII. PCGS AU-53 Gold Shield. A sharply struck coin with pleasing gray to dark gray toning, and some patches of brighter luster in the protected areas." This type was struck 1708-16 and most dates, including this one, are low mintage. This specimen sold for considerably more than catalog value. In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 96 öre = one riksdaler so this coin, a four mark, was one-third of a riksdaler.

Recorded mintage: 10,000.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM-337.
