This 12-sided type was struck in 1977-78 at Santiago, Chile. Off-metal strikes are listed in silver and gold. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. Uruguay fell victim to the same hyperinflation which befell her neighbors Argentina and Brazil and the coinage was reformed twice, in 1975 and 1994.

Recorded mintage: 19,000,000.

Specification: aluminum.

Catalog reference: KM 73.
