This specimen was lot 41372 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "PITCAIRN ISLANDS. 250 Dollars, 1988. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Featuring the Bounty landing party and celebrating the drafting of the Constitution, this nearly flawless specimen radiates with allure and offers a great cameo nature." This NCLT was accompanied by KM 1 (5 oz silver $50) and KM 3 (copper-nickel dollar). It was struck to the module of a British double sovereign. All Pitcairn issues are NCLT's, as the islanders (who number less than 100) use New Zealand money.
Recorded mintage: 2,500.
Specification: 15.98 g, 0.917 fine gold.
