This specimen was lot 71294 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Farthing, 1673. London Mint. Charles II. NGC AU-55 Brown. Chocolate brown and highly pleasing, this wholesome specimen exhibits a solid strike and only light, even wear upon the high points." This type was struck 1672-79 and is fairly common in low grade. A later attempt to strike farthings in tin was an ignominious flop.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
Catalog reference: S-3394; KM-436.1.
