This specimen was lot 3337 in Goldberg sale 87 (Los Angeles, September 2015), where it sold for $317.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy. 2 Lire, 1898-R. Umberto I. Toned with original luster. Better date. NGC graded AU-53." This type was struck at the Rome mint 1881-87 and 1897-99 and is common in circulated condition, tho this is a scarce date.

Recorded mintage: 1,319,609.

Specification: 10 g, .835 fine silver, .268 troy oz ASW, 27 mm diameter, lettered edge.
