This specimen was lot 1263 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,292. The catalog description[2] noted, "FRENCH EQUATORIAL AFRICA. Middle Congo. Token, 1925. PCGS MS-64. Elephant." This token, perhaps a private issue, was minted for the French colony of the Middle Congo in 1925 and was probably used as a work tally as it lacks a denomination. This specimen is likely to be the most expensive aluminum coin in the Wiki, with the exception of this token from Gabon.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: aluminum.
