This specimen was lot 4033 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $329. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. 2 Lire, 1908-R. NGC MS-63. Bright and lustrous surfaces. Nice details." This is the most common date of a type struck 1908-12 yet rather scarce, especially in nice condition. The minting of silver two lire ceased in 1917.
Recorded mintage: 2,283,000.
Specification: 10 g, .835 fine silver, 27 mm diameter, lettered edge.
