This specimen was lot 24190 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. 5 Centesimi, 1908. PCGS MS-66 BN Secure Holder. Sharply struck with attractive iridescent tone and excellent eye appeal." This type, struck 1908-09, 1912-15, 1918, is surprisingly scarce compared to the similar one and two centesimi. In 1919, the weight was reduced to 3.26 g (KM 59) and many may have been melted.
Recorded mintage: 824,000, a better date.
