This ten centavos was struck in Bogotá, Colombia, of a type issued 1952-53. This type, with the portrait of chief Calarca, superseded the silver coin featuring the hero Francisco de Santander. The date is somewhat scarce. Chief Calarca appeared on various ten centavos until 1966.

Recorded mintage: 6,035,000.

Specification: copper-nickel, 18 mm diameter.
