This copper-nickel one peso "papel moneda" was struck for Colombia 1907-16. These coins were issued to retire paper money printed during the civil war of 1899-1903, hence the "p/m" marked on the reverse. (The chaos of that civil war enabled the United States to engineer Panamanian independence.) They later circulated equal to the copper-nickel centavos of 1918-50 (KM 275). They are today very scarce in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: 2,860,000.
Specification: 2 g, copper-nickel.
Catalog reference: KM A279.
