This specimen is a copper demi-sol struck at the Nantes mint in 1788. It is somewhat scarce, being priced by Droulers[1] about 80% more than the common date (1789-N). Its face value was 6 deniers or one half of a sol and was not demonetized in France until 1852. The type was struck 1777-91 and is known from 1784-91 for this mint.

Recorded mintage: unknown but somewhat scarce. 460,000 per the SCWC[2].

Specification: 6.12 g, copper, 24-25 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Benjamin Duvivier.
