United States 1854 half dollar

This issue is common for the type but is priced slightly higher than later dates in the 1850's. This "with arrows" variety was struck 1854-55. Arrows were added to the date 1853-55 to indicate a reduction in weight, from 13.36 g to 12.44 g.
Recorded mintage: 2,982,000.
Specification: 12.44 g, .900 fine silver, .360 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, designed by Christian Gobrecht.
