This specimen was part of lot 22742 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Maundy Set, Pence to 4 Pence (4 Pieces), 1909. Average Grade: UNCIRCULATED. Set is lustrous and richly toned. Sold with original display case." Maundy sets reached a peak of popularity in Edward's reign and were minted in considerable numbers. By 1909, the novelty had worn off and the sales were down; still, this set is not rare. The threepence was the only coin of the four that still circulated.
Recorded mintage: 2,468.
Specification: 1.89 g, 0.925 fine silver.
