This specimen was lot 1859 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY: Christian VII, 1766-1808, AR ½ speciedaler, 1776, traces of luster, toned surfaces, popular date of U.S. Independence, NGC graded AU50." This scarce type was struck 1776-79. It accompanied a similar speciedaler (Dav-1308).
Recorded mintage: 60,000.
