This specimen was lot 3550 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $6,670. The catalog description[1] noted, "1837 BA 8 escudos. Cuzco mint. South Peru. MS-62 (NGC). Types as above. Lustrous yellow gold, somewhat reflective on both sides. Lightly hairlined and showing some softness of strike, but free of planchet flaws and very attractive. Another specimen of this intricately rendered design." There is a similar eight escudos issued by the "Estado Sud Peruano."
