This specimen was lot 2856 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY | Vatican - Church State, Pius VII. 1799-1823. Doppia Romana Anno XVI (1815/16), Roma. Rare date. Good extremely fine. Extraordinary condition." A doppia was originally a double scudo but by this period was substantially lighter. The SCWC lists this type for 1815, 1817 and 1823 from Rome and 1815-16, 1820 and 1829 from Bologna (KM 1077). The last doppia was struck in 1834.
