Sincona sale 90, lot 1340

This specimen was lot 1340 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 2,800 CHF (about US$3,700 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "Hyderabad, Mir Usman Ali Khan, 1329-1367 AH (1911-1948). Ashrafi 1354 AH / Year 25 (1935), Haidarabad. NGC MS65." The Indian princely state of Hyderabad was one of the few large enough and wealthy enough to mint an extensive series of gold coins. This type, struck for Mir Usman Ali Khan (AH 1329-1367 or 1911-48 A.D.), is listed for AH1331-1364 but is still expensive.
