Sincona sale 65, lot 25

This specimen was lot 25 in Sincona sale 65 (Zurich, October 2020), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$211 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Kopeck 1716, Naberezhny Mint, ND. Very rare. 15 roubles according to Ilyin. Slightly off-centered. Very fine. (Копейка 1716, Набережный МД, НД. 7,61 г. Биткин 3111 (R2). Очень редкая. 15 рублей по Ильину. Небольшое смещение. Состояние очень хорошее.")

This type was struck 1713-18 at Naberezhny Mint, simultaneously with the better known KM 118 from Moscow. Tho often transliterated as "HA", the mintmark is more accurately known as "ND" in the Latin alphabet. Note the Cyrillic date on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 8.16 g, copper, this specimen 7.61 g.

Catalog reference: KM-142, Bitkin 3111 (R2).
