H61259-99077r.jpg

This specimen was lot 99077 in Heritage sale 61259 (Dallas, TX, February 2022), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV 1/6 Ecu (20 Sols) 1719-G MS63 NGC, Poitiers mint. 1/6 Ecu XX-S de France-Navarre. A firm strike yields a nearly full expression of the devices throughout, rising in clear contrast against a champagne-tinged argent canvas." This issue from Poitiers is counted as a better date only by comparison to the Paris mint, which emitted over 13 million pieces.

Recorded mintage: 585,810[2].

Specification: silver, 11 deniers (.917 fine), 60 pieces to the mark (4.079 g), face value 20 sols, 23 mm diameter. Engraved by Norbert Roëttiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 № 843, Dr/2 № 562, KM 440.8, Gad-295 (R), Dup-1661.
