Ireland 1956 3 pence rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen was struck for Ireland in 1956. The first Irish threepence, issued 1928-35, featured the obverse legend "SAORSTAT EIREANN"; this type, issued 1942-68, merely stated "EIRE." Unlike the larger shilling, florin and half crown, this denomination was never struck in silver. This date is common.

Recorded mintage: 1,200,000.

Specification: 3.24 g, copper-nickel, 18 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 12a.
