Steve Album sale 39, lot 432
SA39-0432r.jpg

This specimen was lot 432 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Selim III, 1789-1807, AR 2 zolota (60 para), Islambul, AH1203 year 2, bold strike for this rare denomination, AU, R." This rare type was struck years 1, 2, 3, 9. It has a low catalog value as the bad strike and debased alloy make it unattractive to collectors. It must have been even less desirable to merchants of the period.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, 0.465 fine, 18.5-19.0 g, this specimen 18.97 g.

Catalog reference: KM-501, Dav-336.
