Great Britain 2016 5 pence
Revision as of 22:36, 3 August 2025 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "Great Britain 2016 5 pounds S-4865" to "Great Britain 2016 5 pounds KM-1397")
This five new pence, or 1/20 of a pound, was introduced in 1968 as part of the decimal reform. It was struck to the same module as the superseded shilling, which had the same value, until 1992, when the module was reduced to 3.25 g. It was converted to nickel-plated steel in 2011. This type, issued 2015-2022, featured the final bust of the queen. It was struck only for collector sets in 2018. It was recently revised to show king Charles III but we don't know if it is being struck for circulation.
Recorded mintage: 305,740,000 plus 10,328 proofs. 2017: 220,515,000 plus 11,456 proofs.
Specification: 3.25 g, nickel plated steel, 18 mm diameter, designed by Jody Clark and Matthew Dent.
