Sincona sale 9, lot 4512

This specimen was lot 4512 in Sincona sale 9 (Zurich, October 2012), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$202 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN Regno d'Italia Napoleone, 1805-1814. 2 Lire 1807, Milano. Gutes sehr schön. (Italy, kingdom of Napoleon, 1805-14, two lire of 1807, Milan mint, good very fine.)"

This coin was struck in Milan for Napoleon's kingdom of Italy which lasted 1804-1814. The two lire piece matched the French two francs and was struck in some numbers 1807-14. The silver five lire was also struck in Milan, Venice and Bologna.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 (a scarce date).

Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver, .288 troy oz ASW, this specimen 9.93 g.
