Sedwick Treasure Auction 39, lot 1021
Sedwick 39-1021r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1021 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $6,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE, Santiago, bronze pattern 2½ centavos, 1903, very rare, NGC MS 63 BN. Orangish color with traces of original luster, choice grade, this example probably the finest of only three or four known, first we have ever offered and an important opportunity for the Chile specialist." This design used the old bust of Liberty last used in 1898 with a new reverse. In 1904, when this denomination went into production, the reverse was adopted with a new bust of Liberty on the obverse with a more Art Nouveau appearance.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: the regular issue (KM 162) is 7 g, copper, 25 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-PnA26.
