Sincona sale 69, lot 1331

This specimen was lot 1331 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 205 CHF (about US$272 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AEGYPTIEN. Selim III. 1789-1807. 1 Zeri Mahbub 1203 H./Jahr 1, Misr (Kairo). Mit Walizeichen sîn (für Ismâ'îl Pâshâ, 1203-1205 H.) hinter dem Regierungsjahr. Vorzüglich. Kleiner Schrötlingsriss. (Egypt, Selim III, 1789-1807, zeri mahbub of AH 1203, year 1, Cairo mint. Extremely fine, Small flan crack.)"

This type was struck in AH 1203 along with ¼, half and two zeri mahbub. Some of the later issues, such as this half zeri mahbub, were struck by Napoleon's army during their occupation.
