Sincona sale 91, lot 3135

This specimen was lot 3135 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$1,007 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Vierer 1699, Bern. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung/ Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, vierer of 1699, Bern mint. Very rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1680, 1684, 1699 and undated. While this date is fairly scarce, the 1684 is common.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: billon, this specimen 0.57 g.
