Sincona sale 93, lot 1113

This specimen was lot 1113 in Sincona sale 93 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 1,900 CHF (about US$2,634 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Catherine II. 1762-1796, Kopeck 1789, Moscow Mint, MM. Äusserst selten, Extremely rare. NGC VG08 BN."

The regular issue was struck 1763-67, 1788 and 1795 at Moscow and also Ekaterinburg, Izhora, Feodesia and Annensk. This is an unlisted date and presumably rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 10.24 g, copper, 26.5 mm diameter, this specimen 9.34 g.
