This specimen was issued by India as part of the F.A.O. series. The Indian government became an enthusiastic supporter of the F.A.O. program and issued many F.A.O. coins in the 1970's. This specimen is from the Bombay mint and promotes saving for development.
Recorded mintage: 26,000 plus 5,969 proofs.
Specification: 34.7 g, 0.500 fine silver, .557 troy oz ASW.
