This specimen was lot 56703 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, 1607. London Mint; mm: Crown. James I. NGC AU-55." For some reason, the sixpence was the only coin of James I that regularly bore dates. That is why we know that this type was struck 1605-15. This example realized substantially less than the catalog value.

Specification: 3.01 g, 0.925 fine silver, this specimen 2.79 g.
