Sincona sale 80, lot 3170

This specimen was lot 3170 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$480 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. 1/2 Konventionstaler 1832 A, Wien. NGC MS65. Beautiful condition with magnificent patina." This type of 1832-35 does not have a high catalog value but is almost never found in nice condition. Half thalers were struck at this standard until 1851.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 14.02 g.

Catalog reference: Herinek 452, KM 2156.
