This type was struck 1607-12 in Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and is among the more common thalers of the period. The eight brothers depicted were co-rulers of the tiny state; the last one, William IV, died in 1662. The second specimen was lot 8263 in Ponterio sale 160 (Baltimore, June 2011), where it sold for $373.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxe-Weimar. Taler, 1610-WA. Joint Rule of 8 Brothers (1605-40). VERY FINE."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
