The first specimen was lot 20870 in Heritage sale 3008 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $4,168.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Chile. Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1751-J, choice UNC, a remarkable example with fully struck design features on both sides and virtually pristine surfaces apart from some faint hairlines. Presumably from the Nuestra Sonora de la Luz treasure." This treasure rendered this type, heretofore extremely rare, quite available though still expensive for the average collector. All the specimens recovered were dated 1750-51; the other dates (1752-58) remain rare.
