This specimen was lot 1836 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €130 (about US$180 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold II (1865-1909), Cupro-nickel 5 centimes, 1901 FR. Type MICHAUX. Dupriez 1362. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold II, 1865-1909, copper-nickel five centimes of 1901, French legends, Michaux type. Uncirculated.)"
The SCWC lists the following five centimes for 1901:
- KM 40: French text, small lion;
- KM 44: French text, large lion;
- KM 45: Flemish text, large lion;
- KM 46: French text, with hole.
This type was struck 1901-03 and is common, altho the 1901 is somewhat scarce.
Recorded mintage: 202,100.
Specification: 2.5 g, copper-nickel, 19 mm diameter.
