This specimen was lot 3973 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"5 Pengö 1939. Vorzüglich-gutes vorzüglich. (Hungary, five pengo of 1939, extremely fine or better.)"
The bust is of Miklos Horthy, dictator of Hungary 1920-44 and ally of Hitler and Mussolini. He was forced out of power by the Nazis in 1944 for failing to deliver enough Jews to the Holocaust but survived the war.
Recorded mintage: 438,000.
