This specimen was lot 732 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Mauritius, Unabhängiges Mitglied des britischen Commonwealth seit 1968. 1000 Rupees 1988. FDC. (Mauritius, independent since 1968, one thousand rupees of 1988. Uncirculated.)"

This type, a failed attempt to produce a bullion coin, was accompanied by a half ounce gold piece tariffed at 500 rupees (KM 59).
