This specimen was lot 4228 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$192 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"AUSTRIA, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916 Vereinstaler 1865 A. Wien. Vorzüglich-FDC. Hübsche Patina. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, union thaler of 1865, Vienna mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated. Attractive patina.)"
This type was struck 1857-65 at Vienna ("A"), Kremnitz ("B"), Karlsburg ("E"), Milan ("M") and Venice ("V"). This date is common. The convention thaler was 28.06 g, 0.833 fine until 1851, then 25.99 g, 0.900 fine until 1856, then reduced to this size. The last thaler was struck in 1868.
