This specimen was lot 2982 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $102. The catalog description[1] noted, "SALM-KIRBURG: Otto, 1548-1607, AR 2 kreuzer (1/2 batzen), Kirn, ND, with the titles of Rudolf II, crude flan resulting in uneven strike, some toning, XF, RR, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." While this example is undated, others are known dated (15)93, (15)94 or (15)95. The various branches of the Salm family had domains scattered around western Germany. Salm-Kyrburg was on the Nahe river near Pfalz-Simmern and Pfalz-Zweibrucken. Its capital was the town of Kirn.
