This specimen was lot 3558 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,842 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BADEN-DURLACH, MARKGRAFSCHAFT, Karl Friedrich, 1746-1811. Dukat 1776, auf die Geburt seiner Enkelinnen, der Zwillinge Katharina Amalia und Karoline Friederike Wilhelmine, gewidmet von der Stadt Karlsruhe. Brustbild seiner Schwiegertochter Amalie Friederike von Hessen-Darmstadt r.//Die Wappenschilde von Baden und Hessen aneinandergelehnt, darüber Krone. GOLD. Leicht justiert, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, Margraviate of Baden-Durlach, Charles Frederick, 1746-1811, ducat of 1776, on the birth of twin daughters, Catherine Amalie and Caroline Frederica Wilhemina, at Karlsruhe. Obverse: bust of the mother; reverse: oval arms of Baden and Hesse, crown above. Light adjustment marks, choice extremely fine.)"
Another ducat (KM 128) exists featuring the twin babies. One proud papa. Alas, both types are rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.65 g, 0.835 fine gold, .109 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3,49 g.
