Sincona sale 38, lot 1125

This specimen was lot 1125 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,439 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Baden-Durlach, Markgrafschaft, Karl Friedrich, 1746-1811 Dukat 1776. Baden Auf die Geburt seiner Zwillings Enkelinnen, Katharina Amalia und Karoline Friederike Wilhelmine, gewidmet von der Stadt Durlach. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Leicht gewellt. (margraviate of Baden-Durlach, Charles Frederick, 1746-1811, ducat of 1776, on the birth of twin daughters. Very fine-extremely fine, Slightly wavy planchet.)"

Another ducat (KM 127) exists featuring the mother. One proud papa. Alas, both types are rare.
