from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 11351
SB225-11351r.jpg

This specimen was lot 11351 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €65 (about US$68). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 1/192 Taler (Witten), 1694 - HIH. Stralsund Mint. Karl XI. NGC F-12. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1692-98 and 1706-08 and was the smallest coin struck by the city. Heinrich Johann Hille was mintmaster at Stralsund 1662-1705, Stettin 1666-71 and Rostock 1692-93. Stralsund, in the duchy of Pomerania, was a member of the Hanseatic League but fell under Swedish rule 1637-1815, when the port passed to Prussia. Some of the minors are listed fairly inexpensively.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: silver, 12-14 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-190; Delzanno-1127; SB-106; Bruun-12528.
